Shows added in Cotati, San Gregorio and Point Richmond

Solo shows and shared bills … love ‘em.

I’ll be playing a venue that's new to me called The Redwood Cafe, in Cotati, with dear pal and fellow Frontman Rory MacNamara, who rightly and correctly claims that we've been “confounding the critics since 1985.” That'll be Fri Jul 18, starting around 6:00. Teeny little joint, I hear, but great chow and drinks with vibe to spare. So come early. Tip jar gig … folding money encouraged.

Just a couple of days later, on Sat Jul 20, I'll be splitting the bill with my pal Jon Wittenberg at one of my all-time favorite venues, The San Gregorio General Store. I'll play from 2:00 to 3:30, and then I'll  hit the road for a gig in Fairfax that night. Click the GIGS heading over there on the left, eh? This'll be a tip jar soiree, as well.

And the other new one is a show I'll be doing with Marco & The Polos, which is the Hellman siblings, Frances, Mick, Trish and Judith, aided and abetted by Barbara Higbie, Joshua Zucker and Yours Truly at a hugely cool and scenic outdoor venue in Point Richmond called The Sailing Goat. We'll be right on the water, and playing in the evening, so bring layers.  That'll be Aug 09 at 5:00.

Other gigs have been listed for a while, including The Monkey House in Berkeley, the Aqus Cafe in Petaluma, The Ugly Mug in Soquel, Mac's at 19 Broadway in Fairfax. Click the GIGS link over there on the left and all will be revealed.

Next up: Martinez, Niles (Fremont), Lafayette, and Montara. All California.

The pace quickens.

Hit the “Gigs” link over there on the left for venues, dates and times.

Seems likely I'll be adding some Weissenborn lap-steel to the act sometime real soon, so stay tuned for that.

And do let me know if there's a venue or house concert near you you'd like me to play. Have guitar, will travel.

Solo gigs

First solo gig in a long while, last night, with fingerstyle instrumentalist Teja Gerken and singer/songwriter Maurice Tani, at Peri's Tavern in Fairfax, CA. What a great time, playing with great guys.

What I'd thought would be a somewhat typical bar gig, where we'd have to do battle with the regulars to be heard, actually turned into a full-on listening room scene, all by itself.

More of these, Universe!

It's Not Like The Quitters Didn't Warn You ...

As of Sunday, Dec 9, 2024, The Quitters have played their last public show as a duo. After eight-plus years, Glenn and I have very amicably parted musical ways, and we are each looking forward to new artistic adventures. Rock on, Glenn!

It's perhaps no surprise that I'll be jumping right back into doing solo gigs, and right after the first of the year, I will be joining fellow fingerstyle guitarist Teja Gerken and fellow singer-songwriter Maurice Tani for a round-robin evening at Peri's Tavern in Fairfax, CA, on Sunday, January 5. And please know that I'm always interested in hearing about venues near you where you think I might be a good fit, and I'm always especially interested in putting together house concerts. Living rooms and back yards are some of my favorite places to play, so hit me UP!

Meanwhile, I will continue, of course, with The Best Day Job In The World, running Mighty Fine Guitars in Lafayette, over in the East San Francisco Bay. Truly fabulous acoustic guitars just walk in the door - with owners, of course - owners who often as not are feeling a significant karmic pinch, and want nothing more than to get these amazing instruments into the arms of people who will give them the play that they deserve. Come on in if you can, on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays, but know that I'm always hugely pleased to demo guitars online for you, via Zoom or FaceTime or Skype. I'm in the shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well, but generally just for guitar lessons, both in-person and online. And speaking of that guitar lessons make not only a great Christmas gift, but a great way to make good on that New Year's resolution for 1989. Mmmm hmmm.

“I listened to your CD: It's brilliant! I really mean that. I found it to be an incredibly visual experience ... I was enamored by its continuity - the way you occupied the spaces between songs was extraordinary: What a trip! I'll shout that from the rooftops!”

— Barry Melton, "The Fish" of Country Joe & The Fish

“Stevie Coyle's 'Ten-In-One' nominated as one of his '10 Best CDs of 2009' list in The New York Pazz & Jop Critics' Poll. ” - David Royko

— Village Voice

“Stevie Coyle is arguably one of the funniest fingerstyle guitarists known to humankind ... he's been plying his trade as a solo performer — entertaining those lucky enough to be present with his amazing guitar skills and witty repartee.” - Kathy Sands-Boehmer

— Me & Thee Coffeehouse, Marblehead, MA

Stevie Coyle is once again a solo performer, and available for gigs both very large and very small. Email stevie@steviecoyle.com.
